Student-Athletes Excel in the Classroom
Academic Achievement Awards
Baseball student-athlete Kody Campbell, gymnast Emily Mann and football player Bradley Montgomery were honored for their academic achievement at the 2012 Southeast Missouri Scholar- Athlete reception on April 9.
Campbell received the Jewel Award, named after Don Jewel (professor of Biology) and given to a senior athlete with the highest grade point average for his career. Campbell boasted a career 3.95 GPA.
Mann was the recipient of the Trombetta Award, which goes to a graduating senior female student-athlete with the highest grade point average. This individual must have also participated in one or more varsity sports and have at least a 3.0 GPA. Mann turned in a 3.91 GPA.
Montgomery won the Hamby Award, given in honor of former Southeast line coach Jim Hamby. It is presented to the football letterman with the highest GPA each year. Montgomery carried a 3.90 GPA.
