As 2011 chair of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities’ (AASCU) Board of Directors, Southeast President Dr. Ken Dobbins presented Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts with the Distinguished Alumnus Award last fall.

The Distinguished Alumnus Award is granted to graduates of AASCU institutions who have achieved acclaim within their field and who have made a contribution to the public, intellectual or cultural life of the nation.

AASCU is a Washington, D.C.-based higher education association of nearly 420 presidents and chancellors from public colleges, universities and systems whose members share a learning- and teaching-centered culture, a historic commitment to underserved student populations and a dedication to research and creativity that advances their regions’ economic progress and cultural development.
