Southeast Programs Receive Reaccreditation
Several programs at Southeast Missouri State University received new accreditation or accreditation renewal in 2010-11:
- Computer Science was accredited by the Computing Accreditation Board Engineering (ABET)
- The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) reaccredited 27 initial teacher and all 10 advanced teacher programs
- The Harrison College of Business completed the recertification process through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)
- Both the baccalaureate and master’s degree programs in nursing received continuing accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
- The Center for Child Studies received accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
- Communication Disorders was reaccredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language
- Social Work was accredited by both the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
- Mass Media received provision reaccreditation from the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC)
- Industrial and Engineering Technology received reaccreditation from the Association of Technology Management and Applied Engineering (ATMAE)
Accreditation means schools have been judged by an independent evaluator to provide students with a quality education. Southeast works to earn accreditation for its programs to ensure students of quality learning. Because accredited programs are more likely to offer degrees that employers recognize, Southeast students will be highly recruited after graduation.
