Lloyds Create Endowed Psychology Scholarship

Dr. Paul and Karen Lloyd made a $10,000 gift to create the Paul J. Lloyd Endowed Psychology Scholarship award.

The scholarship will be awarded to a graduate or undergraduate student enrolled at Southeast with a 3.0 or higher grade point average with first preference given to any student with demonstrated interest in consulting psychology, positive psychology or the teaching of psychology at the college level.

Paul Lloyd was a professor of psychology at Southeast, retiring this past summer after 40 years at the University.

Dear Dr. Lloyd and Mrs. Lloyd,

This letter is a token of my appreciation in regards to your scholarship which I have been awarded.

Throughout the last four years, you have been a mentor, professor and friend. You have been an inspiration to me and helped me to believe in myself. I consider myself very blessed to have been able to work with you during the end of your successful career. Your guidance has helped lead my life and the life of my husband in the direction that we feel it is meant to travel.

When I first walked into your office in the summer of 2007, I had no clue what I was doing or how college would change my life. Now, I have a specific goal of pursuing a Ph.D. and know what I want to do for my career. These decisions have been influenced largely by you. I am sincerely thankful for all you have done for me.

Lastly, I am thankful for being awarded the Paul J. Lloyd Endowed Psychology Scholarship. The money provided through this scholarship will greatly lessen the financial burden of attending my last year at Southeast. Thank you for granting me this special award.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Welker
